The Health and Vitality of People and their Communities
Tuesday, April 30, 201912:00 - 1:00 p.m.Roseville City Hall2660 Civic Center Drive - Aspen RoomRoseville, MN 55113https://www.cityofroseville.com/ Topic: The health and vitality of people and the communities they live in are interdependent. Communities prosper with healthy people. Every day we are learning more about the relationship between conditions in people’s everyday environments and health outcomes, such as mental health, heart disease and diabetes. These conditions can also explain, in part, why some health disparities and health inequities exist in Hennepin County and elsewhere in our region. One approach being utilized around the nation to build healthier communities and address health inequities is through the local comprehensive plan. Here in the Twin Cities metro area, a group of city and county planners and health staff have been meeting since 2016 to support each other in how to include health considerations into their plans. Come learn about the work of the Metro Healthy Comprehensive Plans Workgroup, hear from a city planner about how their plan is building a healthier community, and learn about the emerging challenges and needs in plan implementation. Presenter: Denise Engen, Hennepin County Community Works *This event is free and can be viewed in person or via webstreaming. CM credits are approved for this event.
