The Artery presents "Phenomena and Forecast," an introduction to Adele Shaw's new bright, high energy abstract paintings. The show will extend from January 8 to 30. In 2020 Adele reevaluated the image-making in her paintings. A number of big reveals led her to this new, personal work. By going completely abstract she found a language to project intangible things--the smell of lavender or the sight of sunlight streaming through trees. An interpretive painting might result from Adele listening to the wind with closed eyes. Adele states, "In some ways, it's about everything and nothing at the same time." Adele acknowledges that she has always started her paintings with an abstraction. This beginning ultimately was covered as the painting progressed. Her new, completely abstract canvases are high energy with bright color and transparent overlay--a conversation between color and line. Adele explains, "This exploration into the abstract play of harmony and chaos feels just right, right now." The artist will also have books and sketchbooks containing sketches and studies of her various works in development. Beginning January 2, 2021, The Artery, 207 G Street, Davis, CA will be open 5 days a week, Tuesday through Saturday, 11 AM to 5 PM. Closed January 1, 2021.
