Gardening with Native Plants. Saturday, November 9 2019 - 9am to 12pm. Native Plants can be the answer to your gardening dreams! Did you know that native plants can often support 10 to 50 times as many species of native wildlife as non-native? Native plants have adapted over thousands of years to water availability and climate. Learn about native plants that grow along the American River Parkway and around Folsom Lake. Create a healthy habitat for yourself and critters using plants that benefit wildlife, use less water and little to no pesticides or herbicides. We will discuss and view slides of native plants in this region and then tour the Nursery and Demonstration Gardens. Instructor: Chris Lewis, Director of Elderberry Farms Native Plant Nursery. Price: $25. Location: Soil Born Farms American River Ranch in the Schoolhouse and Elderberry Farms Native Plant Nursery, 2140 Chase Drive, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670.
