All About Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs): From Ideas To Building (2019 Experience Architecture)
Accessory Dwelling Units, also known as in-law units or granny units, are smaller living units on a property that has a single-family residence. Given the current housing crisis in California, interest in Accessory Dwelling Units has reached an all-time high. AIA California, in partnership with AIA Central Valley and AIA Pasadena Foothill Chapter, created www.Plus1House.org a new resource that covers all the basics of designing and building an ADU for homeowners--rules and requirements, cost, design, building, uses and most importantly, inspiration! Attend this session to learn more about Plus1House.org and ADUs from a panel of local experts including: City of Sacramento Urban Design Manager, Bruce Monighan, AIA and architect Gennifer Munoz, AIA of GenM Architecture. Before the session, walk through Unity Home, one the award-receiving Tiny Homes submitted into the AIACV 2019 Emerging Professionals Design Competition. Sponsors: Comstocks Magazine, SMUD, Milgard Windows & Doors, Lionakis, and Fulcrum Properties. * * * Experience Architecture is a public-outreach event designed by AIA Central Valley to facilitate greater transparency with the public in how architects create our built environment and how it impacts their daily lives; to create an ongoing dialogue to inform a distinct, regional, architectural identity; and to highlight existing relationships between the region and its architecture. The 2019 event is scheduled from October 1st - 13th. Questions?
