A Thread Runs Through It

Friday, October 30, 2020, 6:00 PM - 12:00 AM

"A Thread Runs Through It" features fabric artist Marjan Kluepfel and jeweler Cathy Cederlind. The exhibit runs through November 7. Though they work in different mediums, they are both inspired by nature and use an abundance of thread in their creations. Cathy says: "I view jewelry as a functional form of art meant to enhance the beauty and personality of whoever the wearer might be." Many elements of nature influence her pieces--cloudy days, sun drenched beaches, lichen on rocks and trees. She embellishes her designs with semiprecious beads, Swarovski crystals, shibori silk and glass beads. Her embroidery translates a favorite scene into stunning necklaces, earrings, bracelets, cuffs, and collars--all art pieces. Marjan says: "I am an artist who uses fabric and thread as my medium instead of paper and paint....and a sewing machine instead of a brush." The textures, colors and prints of fabric fascinate Marjan, giving her inspiration for new designs. Her bright colors and sense of movement illustrate her love of nature and her positive view of life.
